Precautions After Surgery

Please be aware of the Precautions after surgery.

Postoperative attention

Blepharoplasty

Pack

Use cold packs, for up to 3 days after surgery and hot packs thereafter. (When applying a pack, it is recommended to place a thin towel over your eyes.)

Wound care

Disinfect the wound with saline solution once a day (until the stitches are removed). Apply eye ointment to the stitch area 1-2 times a day (until the next day after stitch removal). Put the eye drops in your eyes once a day before going to bed.

lens

Lenses cannot be worn for two weeks, so please wear glasses during this period.

Washing face

You can wash your face and apply makeup the day after the stitches are removed. However, please do not rub hard.

Symptoms after surgery

Swelling and bruising

Swelling may become worse 1-2 days after surgery, and bruising may last for about 2 weeks.

chemosis/congestion

The whites may swell or become red and bloodshot, but this usually improves within 2 to 4 weeks.

Cold

If you have had lateral canthoplasty or hotz canthoplasty, you may experience coldness.

Pain

Minor wounds to the cornea or conjunctiva may cause pain, in which case it may be necessary to wear protective lenses.

Scar

Generally, the scar at the incision site appears redder one month after surgery, and in severe cases, scar injection treatment may be helpful.

Prohibited activities for one month

Drinking/smoking

Drinking and smoking can cause inflammation, so it is recommended to refrain from them for about 4 weeks.

Exercise

Aggressive exercise, such as aerobics or gymnastics, excluding light walking, is allowed 4 weeks after surgery.

Shower

Simple shampooing and showering are possible from the day after surgery, but bathing, steam rooms, and saunas are allowed 4 weeks after surgery.

Posture/sleep

Avoid lowering your head or lying face down. When sleeping, keep your head and back elevated if possible, and sleep lying on your back.

Medicine

Take prescribed painkillers and antibiotics on time, and if additional painkillers are needed, take Tylenol. Among painkillers, aspirin can cause bleeding. Therefore, it is recommended not to consume it.

Emergency

Rhinoplasty

Pack

Use cold packs, for up to 3 days after surgery and hot packs thereafter. (Please use the pack toward the front cheek, excluding the nose area.)

Wound care

Disinfect the wound with saline solution once a day (until the stitches are removed). Apply eye ointment to the stitch area 1-2 times a day (until the next day after stitch removal).

Splint

Please do not arbitrarily remove bandages, splints, or cotton inside the nose after nose surgery. You must visit the hospital to have it removed.

Washing face

After removing the splint, you can wash your face with water, and before that, simply wipe your face lightly with a wet towel.

Symptoms after surgery

Swelling and bruising

Swelling may become worse 1-2 days after surgery, and bruising may last for about 2 weeks.

Unturned nose tip

Depending on the condition of the nose before surgery, the nose tip may look more lifted for 1-2 weeks after surgery.

Awkward lip movements/columella tightening

Lip movements may be awkward for 1-2 months after surgery due to scar tissue, but everything will return to normal.

Stiffness

The nose tip may be hard for about 6 months due to scar tissue, and in some cases, scar injection may be necessary.

Pain/abnormal sensation

After surgery, you may feel irregular pain or abnormal sensations, but if it is not accompanied by erythema or edema, it is usually not a symptom of inflammation and you do not need to worry.

Scar

Generally, the scar at the incision site appears redder one month after surgery. After 3 months, it gradually turns white and becomes less visible.

Precautions after nose (rhinitis) surgery

Bleeding

In rare cases, massive bleeding may occur in the inferior turbinate within 2 weeks after surgery, in which case intranasal packing may be required.

Encle

This medicine relieves dryness. Spray it inside your nose 2-3 times a day starting from the 7th day.

Tantum (Hexamedin) Gargle

It can prevent stomatitis and tonsillitis. (Use frequently after surgery.)

Nasal cleaner and cleansing powder

Starting the day after the columella stitches are removed, you can clean the inside of your nose before going to bed. (Refer to product manual for usage instructions.)
*If the stitch removal date is within 5 days of surgery, you can wash from the 7th day.

Lifting/Filler

Swelling/pack

Swelling may worsen for 2-3 days after surgery, and a cold pack can help.(When using a pack, it is recommended to use it on a thin towel.)

Washing face

Replace the scar tape once and remove it the next day. You can lightly wash your face and shower with the tape attached.

Meal

It is recommended to eat mainly soft foods for 3 days after the surgery. However, avoid hard and chewy foods (squid, nuts, etc.) for at least 4 weeks.

Symptoms after surgery

Sense

There may be a tingling sensation around the treatment area for 2 to 3 weeks.

“pop” sound

The “pop” sound is made by small cogs.(The thread is not broken and has nothing to do with the effect or duration.)

Swelling/bruising

There will be a little more swelling 2-3 days after surgery, and usually about 70-80% of the swelling subsides after 1-2 weeks. Minor swelling may last 3 to 4 weeks depending on your constitution. By moving the jowl volume, cheek sinking is improved, but swelling may cause the face to feel slightly wider.

Dimple

It may look uneven due to swelling around 2 weeks after surgery.(If the dimple is not deep, most will recover naturally.)

Filler

If severe pain, erythema, swelling, or skin trouble symptoms persist within 1 to 2 days after surgery, you should contact the hospital.

Prohibited activities for one month

Mouth opening

Please avoid major changes in facial expression, such as smiling loudly, frowning, or opening your mouth wide, for 4 weeks after surgery.

Drinking/smoking

Avoid drinking and smoking for 1 week after surgery.

Exercise

Aggressive exercise, such as aerobics or gymnastics, excluding light walking, is allowed 1 week after surgery.

Skin Care

Skin laser treatment is possible after 2 weeks, and acupressure and lifting laser treatment is recommended after 4 weeks.

Additional treatment time

Since the thread begins to soften after 6 months, it is recommended to undergo additional treatment at least 6 months later.

Fat grafting

Pack

After surgery, you should not use cold packs, massage (meridian), or apply shock. Never rub or press the grafted area because pressing it will cause the area to cave in, greatly reduce the engraftment rate, or cause the grafted fat to move to other areas. (If you have had forehead fat grafting, it is recommended not to wear a hat to avoid putting pressure on your forehead.)

Shower

Starting 2 days after surgery, you can take a simple shower after attaching a waterproof band to the wound area. (Bathing, steam rooms, and saunas are allowed 4 weeks after surgery.)

Diet

Weight loss is prohibited after surgery. When you lose weight, the grafted fat also decreases, making fat grafting almost ineffective.

Symptoms after surgery

Swelling

Typically, major swelling will subside within about a week after surgery, and some swelling will remain after two weeks. After 1 month, most of the fat will have engrafted, and depending on the individual, a second grafting may be necessary. The need will be decided upon visiting the hospital.

Shape

Symptoms such as slight asymmetry, sinking, lumpiness, and hardness will improve as the swelling goes down.

Fat harvesting

The area where the fat was harvested may experience some pain, bruising, lumpiness, and paresthesia for 2-3 months, but this will gradually improve.

Medicine

Take prescribed painkillers and antibiotics on time, and if additional painkillers are needed, take Tylenol. Among painkillers, aspirin can cause bleeding. Therefore, it is recommended not to consume it.

Meal

Please eat soft food for 2 weeks after surgery. (Avoid hot, spicy, and salty foods.)

Gargling/brushing teeth

You should gargle hexamedine after every meal. (However, applying pressure may cause the suture area to open, so keep the gargle in your mouth and spit it out.) Please brush carefully to avoid irritating the wound area.

Taping removal

You can remove it on your own three days after surgery.

Symptoms after surgery

Swelling and bruising

Swelling may become worse 1-2 days after surgery, and bruising may last for about 2 weeks.

Sense

There may be pressure in the front jaw area for 2 to 3 weeks after surgery.

Prohibited activities for one month

Removal of bandages and blood pockets

You will need to visit the hospital 1-2 days after surgery to have them removed.

Wound care

Disinfect the wound area 1-2 times a day using saline solution and antibiotic ointment. (After bandage removal)

Symptoms after surgery

Swelling and bruising

Swelling may become worse 1-2 days after surgery, and bruising may last for about 2 weeks.

Hypoesthesia

Scalp sensation may temporarily decrease, and although there are individual differences, it gradually returns within 1 to 2 months.

Dizziness, vomiting
